Who we are
This website is run by Cortege Digital (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.
If you have any questions about this notice or your information, email us at hello@cortegedigital.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need. This may include:
- Website score requests: your name, your firm’s name, your website address, your email address and, if you choose to give them, your phone number and a message.
- Clients: contact and billing details for the people we work with, and the content you send us for your website.
- Correspondence: emails, calls and messages you send us.
- Technical information: basic server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, kept for security.
How we use it and why
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We use it:
- to prepare and send your website score, and reply to you, because it is in our legitimate interests to respond to requests you make;
- to provide services you have asked for, because we have, or are about to enter into, a contract with you;
- to keep accounts and records, because the law requires us to;
- to keep our website secure, because it is in our legitimate interests.
We will not use your details for marketing unless you have agreed to it, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Information on our clients’ websites
When we build or look after a website for a funeral firm, that firm decides what information goes on it, such as funeral notices, tributes, messages and enquiry forms. For that information the funeral firm is the controller and we act as its processor, following its instructions under a written agreement.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email and accounting providers, and only as far as they need it. They must keep it secure and use it only on our instructions.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Transfers outside the UK
If any of our service providers store information outside the UK, we will make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, as UK law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep score requests and enquiries for no longer than we need them after our last contact, unless you become a client. We keep client and accounting records for as long as the law requires, usually six years after the end of the financial year they relate to.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it to be moved to another organisation. Some rights only apply in certain situations. To use any of these rights, email hello@cortegedigital.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
